I create unique keepsake boxes by layering luxurious fabrics and papers with intricate embroidery, combining texture and detail through heat manipulation and delicate cutwork by hand. I am inspired by imperfections in nature and 1920’s interiors, adverts and social myths. Designs within the collection now include Wedding and Christmas. Techniques also include combine machine/hand embroidery, layering, ripping, printing, cutwork, and treatments via heat gun or soldering iron. Materials include satins, organzas, textured papers/card and found objects.
Biography: I am a Mixed Media Textiles Graduate (2007, First Class) and i now work from a home studio. I have always been creative, and created a collection of boxes inpsired by 1900 herbal remedies, as the final project for my degree. Since graduating I have exhibited at New Designers and The Graduate Showcase at the Knitting and Stitching shows, and i continue to develop my work. I have also sold several card designs on a freelance basis to Woodmanstern cards. There is an article about my work in the Feb/Mar 2008 edition of Workbox Magazine.
