I have almost 20 years experience working in media, starting in advertising. I have around 7 years experience in the Computer Games Industry, and I have just finished 5 years in the Visual Effects Industry working on five major feature films in Los Angeles, United States. I have experience in storyboarding, previs animation (animatics), digital and practical modelling, digital texture painting, digital lighting and image rendering, photography, illustration and concept/creature design. I also write and produce music in a variety of styles and genres.
Biography: I was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1961. After attending the Glasgow School of Art, I moved to Harrogate, North Yorkshire, as an illustrator and electric guitar repairer. I ended up in advertising for a few years, then I took some time off to build and photograph practical miniature models and take a computer course at a local college. This led to several years in the games industry, and as well as character and concept design, I built, texture painted and lighted 3D digital models. I formed my own CG design company in 1999, and closed that down after a successful year to work for another games company as a concept designer and cut sequence director. I moved to the states in 2001, and worked for Digital Domain as a previs, 2D, 3D and lighting artist on several movies and commercials over a five year period. Having grown tired of L.A. and movie VFX production, I'm now back in the UK as a university teacher/consultant and freelance image maker.
